Festival Pil’Ours:
8 July - 31 August, 2018

Because We Can | Festival Pil’Ours | Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, FR

100 years ago the Representation of the People Act gave some women in Britain the right to vote. Because We Can is an exhibition reflecting on this historical moment, celebrating contemporary work by female and female-identifying photographers around the world.

The show is organized by Shutter Hub in partnership with  Festival Pil’Ours and presented as outdoor exhibitions spread throughout the Pays de St Gilles Croix de Vie, France. The photographs are displayed on panels designed as contact sheets.

Because We Can opened on 8 July at Festival Pil’Ours in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, France and will run until 31 August, with a Talk and Exhibition Tour on 18 July.

Festival Pil’Ours is an annual international festival of photography showcasing the work of female-identifying photographers. Shutter Hub is a photography organization providing opportunities, support and networking for creative photographers worldwide.

Exhibition curated by Karen Harvey, designed by Tim Jukes and printed by Leone Sign. All exhibition installation views below by © Jayne Lloyd / Shutter Hub.
